Geocaching Journal

I grabbed a journal that was on sale at Waldenbooks today. -is happy-

I decided a couple days ago that I would like to keep a journal of my geocaching activities (it also now includes my letterboxing activities as a bonus). The first couple pages are a list of caches (and letterboxes) I found before starting the journal. The next pages are for DNFs, so that I can go back to them easily. The next page is more of a planning list for caches that would go well in a single trip (there are some caches I prefer to do at night, just because). The list will probably disappear. The journal has a pocket in the back that I can put index cards in, and have the plans on those cards instead. Foolproof plan, huzzah!

I almost wish I had grabbed two of these journals. Writing in it's fun, though it's hell on my wrist. x.x

Anyway, after the first few pages of info I got down to what I wanted. I wasn't sure how to show exactly what I wanted in it. I didn't want to mess it up with highlighting and stuff like that, so I took to underlining, which keeps it neat and orderly. I listed the order of operations in the write-up, and have brief cache descriptions in there. The end of the entry is a summary of what happened during that day/trip. I'll post the first entry here, though I'm a little embarrassed about one of the DNFs. Seems so simple, unless it was missing or something. Then I'm not as embarrassed, but a little sad. :(

Went to Tim Horton's. Left for GC1AWEK and GC1K5FT, but should try those at night instead. Less traffic. Instead went to Pettingill Park and found 2/4. Found GC2R8CF and GC2R8CP. The first was in the sign, the second under the stairs leaving. Missed GC2R8CZ and GC2R8C9.

We left Pettingill to try for GC2K7HH, but no luck. We went to Riverside Cemetery after that and grabbed a couple letterboxes. 4 Elements: Water was the first, and an easy find. We searched roughly an hour for 4 Elements: Earth before we realized we were in the wrong cemetery. Oops. (Also, my next letterboxing log book needs non-ruled index cards in it. Ugh.)

After we found the letterboxes, we headed down to Switzerland Road. Went to the end for GC12RYY but didn't find it. Did the rest of the road and found GC2XR4N (in tree), GC12RYQ (GRC), and GC12RYE (big surprise). Sadly, there was a hole in the last container. :(

After, went to Deer Rd. and searched for GC1BNBA. Didn't find it, but found GC1BYEG in a stone wall down the road.

Left for Merrill road from there and came across GC11TBPH. AWESOME cache. Small box put into a branch and stuck in a tree with pins. GPS kept going back to it, and I noticed it looked off just before I was about ready to leave. Great hide. From the name, I thought I'd be looking for an ammo can. Thinking back, I think it was. Just really small.

Home after that. (Also, lot of military vehicles @ rec park).

*edit*

Here's the journal I picked up. Medium size. I kinda wish I had grabbed another, because I really like it. I'll have to grab one later. Not something for my fics, but nice as a personal thing. I could get used to having a journal. Would get me into the "write once each day" habit.
